The Dumfries and County golf club is a privately owned parkland course that hosted the British Senior Ladies Open Amateur Championship in 2006. The course borders the river Nith and offers fabulous views of the surrounding area. The course will challenge you and your course management will need to be spot on to achieve the par of 69.  Look out for the 8th, a testing 433 yard par 4 –  par this one and it will set you up for the back 9.

 

Dumfries and Galloway Golf Club is another top quality parkland course measuring 6309 yards for a par round of 70. The course is a good test of your ability, however the fairways are generous and the rough is graded and cut to avoid prolonged ball searching. A great course where a round can be enjoyed by golfers of all levels.

 

For something a bit more searching head to Southerness Golf Course. This championship links course situated on the Solway Coast gives great views of the Solway Firth, the Lake District, and the Galloway Hills. Designed by McKenzie Ross and built in 1947 the course is not for the faint hearted, the length and the complexity of the course ensures your are always concentrating on your next shot. Following a survey of 1000 courses in the United Kingdom the popular “Golf Weekly” rated the course as high as number 6.
